The very short clips are to display grooves for song parts. Other clips display drum parts that raise questions in clinics & interviews.

His Voice RHand HiHat on Verse The hihat required 16th notes for this part. They are all played w/1 hand on the right cable hihat. so that the snare could be smacked with the left.

Avalon Intro

Avalon Verse

This 1st LaBrie 'solo' project unfolded quickly. The drums were recorded 1st. All of the sounds, drum parts, final drum tracks, and basic project vision had to occur in less than 2 full days.

This REMO Acousticon kit was the same used for Vai's Ultra Zone session. In fact, this session was done 2 days after , and 2 miles away from Vai's Mothership Studio.

That was a full 2 weeks full of those 2 recordings !

Really listen to Jame's voice. There are moments that headphones can help you 'see' how each instrument is connecting with them & each other.

As he is the only one to be at every session, his vocal execution reflects the spirit of the music.

Audio

Stranger Verse > Chorus

Simple Man Chorus Left hand on jingle hats with right hitting snare & off beat right hihat accents

Simple Man MG Solo certain Matt riffs were picked to play in unison to compliment the solo as a whole.

Save Me Verse groove

Save Me MK Solo tuplet fills in order are: tuplets: 7:2, 5:2, 10, 5

Tell Me 1-Hand snare speed fill

This 2nd release had some songwriter's demos prior to the recording. Based on the 1st release, this 2nd one was a bit easier to settle with recording-wise as there was something to base the recordings on.

Again however, there were 2 days to get everything accomplished drum-wise. The Pearl Birch Platinum Mist kit was just perfect. Having Matt's solo takes to hear during the session was a treat and really tied in a part of the songs that can escape when one doesn't know what is being played by everyone while recording.

There were coated amb's on all the drums but the kick.

This 3rd LaBrie release does what most 3rd releases do not accomplish: no weaker components (per fan's perspective) than the previous releases.
