![]() TOJ Exit Elvis T.O.J.'s electronically aggressive sound is combined with Cherone's lyrics. They were more serious that ever regarding philosophy and religion. Mike was genuinely supportive of Cherone's lyrical content. The way the pair combined accented rhythms & lyrical meaning was at a high during the shows. |

| I met Steve Vai during the recording of Bangkok and the Fire Garden Suite. I was on a clinic tour, but was asked to record the tracks after Steve finally saw one of 3 video tapes I tried to get to him. It was fellow drummer, Jonathan Mover, who was Joe Satriani's drummer, that made the connection to Steve's manager, Ruta, for me. I really like playing Steve's drum orchestrations. For me, it was like getting a drum part from myself in the future. Fun Stuff!" - MM |

Set the World on Fire, was Mike's 1st recording with a label supported band. He flew in at the 'last minute' to record the drums. Mike had not recovered a full 2 days from a bout with double pneumonia that put him at 115 pounds and nearly killed him. Only friend Neil Goldberg knew, but convinced him to fly and record. |

Nevertheless is the 1st recording Mike did with Sal since...perhaps a live cassette recording of them at Sal's high school talent show in 1980. (That is of course if it was taped.) | ![]() |
The drum mix on Great Exploits is the best one for hearing Mike's clinic kit on a recording. Recorded at Waltz Audio in Boston, and respectfully including Mike in the engineering process, the drums are ... simply right. |

Drum! Magazine's W.Schnally refers to it as, "a piece that has turned Zappa's, The Black Page, white." There was an entire article dedicated to the polyrhythmic madness on the track. | Mangini refers to it as: "an extension of my relationship with Mike Keneally. To say humor is a part of that relationship is the 8th biggest understatement of all time. MK is like a jukebox of everything that can play it all " Eggzooming |
